SmartSeat Chair Protector is saving chairs

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

SmartSeat Chair Protectors are saving my chairs from stains, but also my legs! I didn’t buy my kitchen chairs just to stick to them. Shocking, right? Why would someone buy kitchen chairs, if not to end up having plastic covers on them to which ones legs can stick to them? In reality, I bought the chairs because I wanted to sit down and eat at the table. Comfort was kind of on the menu, not sticking to the chair seat covers.

SmartSeat Chair Protector: saving chairs, and legs every day

I’ve two small kids, light colored chairs and an aversion to plastic covers on furniture, as well as kitchen chairs. In our Sicilian family, all relatives had “the room.” You know the room.

  • beautifully decorated
  • perfectly put together with the best furniture money could buy on a blue collar budget

All of the furniture glistened as the light hit it. Don’t laugh. Light shot right off of the fabulous PLASTIC covers on the sofa, arm chair and ottoman. Always looking “oh so pristine.”

Entry into “the room” was granted a few times throughout the year. No matter the temperature outside, you sweat sitting on the plastic. Guess what came next? Yes. Legs stuck to the plastic. Skin from your legs stayed behind on the plastic. Not so pristine anymore, huh?!

Plastic covers are no-go

Flash forward 30 years: light colored kitchen chairs, and two messy kids. Images of reliving the plastic cover horror hit me. As I tried to figure out what to use on my light colored chairs, I stroked the backs of my legs, remembering the pain. We resorted to placing towels down where the kids sat, whilst hoping they didn’t spill anything on the other chairs by accident. It was ugly. I did try to get towels that matched, to lessen the eyesore, but it didn’t work and I spent many days shaking my head at the situation.

Restored hope

All hope was lost, until I had the opportunity to review SmartSeat Chair Protector from pb&j Discoveries. I definitely wanted to piddle when I found out I was going to review one of these covers. Good thing I didn’t. No chair covers means wrecked chair. However, now I have the SmartSeat Chair Protector, so if I felt the urge to piddle and didn’t want to get up, I could. I WON’T, but I could. I have options.

How do I know my chairs would be fine? My son christened our new seat cover. Thankfully, my new cover protected my beautiful chairs, winning me over BIG TIME! My son, he didn’t fair so well, however that’s a different kind of post!

A little about the SmartSeat protectors

We know it can handle piddle. Big win. SmartSeat Chair Protectors come in a variety of colors. For my review, I chose chocolate brown. My chairs are a beige. I thought dark would be better for stains.

The color is a beautiful, dark and rich brown. When I pulled out the instructions I got a queasy feeling in my stomach. I hate following instructions. Mr. Sunflower handled installation.

Guess who puts it back on after each washing? Yep, Mr. Sunflower.

  • don’t put it in the dryer, hang dry.
  • it has adjustable straps with Velcro, and fits chairs from 18″ to 25″ wide
  • fabric is soft-to-the-touch and toxin-free
  • variety of colors: Chocolate Brown; Sandstone Tan; Midnight Navy Blue; and, Metro Black.

What I think of the chair protectors

I give this product a big THUMBS UP. No complaints, just a suggestion for the future: ore color options. How can I do a review and not mention at least one thing to improve, right?

This is such a clever idea. My kids have managed to ruin not one but two sets of kitchen chairs. This is why we now have wooden chairs for them… :)

I love this idea! Right now we use plastic seat covers from Bed Bath & Beyond, and they suck. They tie on, and my son has managed to squirm his way to breaking three of them so far. I’m off to check out the website!

They tie onto the chair pretty well. I don’t think he’d be able to wiggle and break them. It’s like a criss cross thing going on to keep that bad boy on the chair. I love it. I’d have them all over the house if I could. And they just make me so happy when I walk into the kitchen. I just have one right now, have to buy 5 more. LOL. Next pay check!
