Mompact: Review & Giveaway of SmartSeat Chair Protector
I’m participating in the Mompact Blog Hop, where 120 bloggers have joined together to bring you giveaways galore. Mompact is all about “moms supporting moms” and we love being able to join together to bring you guys amazing giveaways. All of the products in our giveaway hop are invented by MOMS! We’ve designed this blog hop to be like a game of “Candyland”. Each one of our participating blogs is a spot on the board, so when you’re done here, you’ll head to the next blog on the board: Dinosaurs & Dandelions
And now, let’s start the show…….
I have to be honest with all of you, sticking to a chair cover isn’t really why I bought my kitchen chairs. Shocking, right? Why would someone buy kitchen chairs, if not to end up having plastic covers on them to which ones legs can stick to them? In reality, I bought the chairs because I wanted to sit down and eat at the table. Comfort was kind of on the menu, not sticking to the chair seat covers.
I’ve got two small kids, light colored chairs and a real aversion to plastic covers on furniture and chairs. In our ITALIAN family, all of the relatives had that “one room”. You know the room. Beautifully decorated, perfectly put together with the best furniture money could buy on a blue collar budget. And all of it glistened when the light hit it. That light shot right off of the fabulous PLASTIC covers on the sofa, arm chair and ottoman. Looked “oh so pristine”…….
We were allowed in that room a few times a year and no matter what temperature it was outside, you sweat your butt off and that plastic STUCK to the back of your legs. When you sat up, half your leg was stuck to that plastic. Not so pristine anymore, huh?!
Now, picture me, 30 years later in my own home looking at my kids and re-living that horror, stroking the backs of my legs, remembering the pain, as I tried to figure out what I was going to place over these kitchen chairs to protect them. Yet not wanting to leave half my legs behind when I stood up from the plastic covers everyone was suggesting I get. I lost all hope, we were putting towels down where the kids sat and hoping they didn’t spill anything on the other chairs by accident. It was ugly. I did try to get towels that matched, to lessen the eyesore, but it did not work and I just shook my head every time we sat down to eat.
All hope was lost……until Mompact entered the picture and brought me the opportunity to review SmartSeat Chair Protector by pb&j Discoveries. I definitely wanted to piddle when I found out I was going to review one of these covers. Good thing I didn’t, or the kitchen chairs really would have been destroyed. However, now that I have the SmartSeat Chair Protector, if I felt the urge to piddle and didn’t want to get up, I could……..I WON’T, but I could. How do I know this would be fine? Because my son had a little accident on it to “christen” our new seat cover. Cover protected my beautiful chairs and won me over BIG TIME! My son, he didn’t fair so well…but that’s a different kind of blog post!
Now that we know it can handle piddle, let’s get back to the review, shall we?!!! I was allowed to choose the color I wanted to review. I chose Chocolate Brown. My chairs are actually light tan and I figured why not go dark. Change it up a bit…….who am I kidding, honestly, we eat a lot of chocolate, figured brown would be our best bet!
The color is really beautiful, love how dark and rich of a brown it is. It’s not a cheesy brown. When I pulled out the instructions I got a queasy feeling in my stomach….I hate following instructions. I handed it to my husband to put on the chair and I went downstairs to check out the video. I’m a very visual person, so I loved the fact that they have videos on the website.
By the time I got upstairs, it was done. My husband laughed at me, but that’s okay. At least I will be able to put it back on after I wash it in the WASHING MACHINE. That’s right, you can throw these bad boys in the washing machine. I don’t recommend a dryer for these, so hang it dry instead. It’s got adjustable straps with Velcro. It can fit chairs from 18″ to 25″ wide. I love versatility.
When you sit on these, no sticking to the seat. The fabric is soft-to-the-touch and toxin-free. We all know by now how important it is for me to have fewer and fewer toxins in my home (remember, I make my own cleaners now).
The covers come in a variety of colors. The Chocolate Brown like I got, Sandstone Tan, Midnight Navy Blue and Metro Black. Any of these colors would fit into your decor. ALL are the same, soft material I have fallen in love with.
I’m giving this product a big THUMBS UP. Sure, the variety of colors need to be increased, perhaps a pattern or two would be great. However, that’s really my only “complaint” and it’s really not much of a complaint, really. Just a suggestion for the future. Plus, how can I do a review and not have SOMETHING to complain about. No self-respecting woman wouldn’t find SOMETHING to pick on.

This is such a clever idea. My kids have managed to ruin not one but two sets of kitchen chairs. This is why we now have wooden chairs for them… :)
Very cool idea. Maybe I’ll get some of those for when the grandkids come over!
Blessings,

Isn’t it amazing that for all these years it was plastic covers or nothing? Great invention! Not entering but stopping by from vb. btw, with the hop, do you have to go to all 120 blogs? I’m starting to see more and more of these progressive hops. I may join someday after I catch up….!
No, you don’t have to hit all 120 hops. As you go along, you’ll get the feel for it. Thanks for coming by!!!
I love this idea! Right now we use plastic seat covers from Bed Bath & Beyond, and they suck. They tie on, and my son has managed to squirm his way to breaking three of them so far. I’m off to check out the website!

They tie onto the chair pretty well. I don’t think he’d be able to wiggle and break them. It’s like a criss cross thing going on to keep that bad boy on the chair. I love it. I’d have them all over the house if I could. And they just make me so happy when I walk into the kitchen. I just have one right now, have to buy 5 more. LOL. Next pay check!
its really a very good idea…
