**Visual Note: As I write this post, I’m sitting in my desk chair wearing my little black dress. It’s the most comfortable piece of clothing I own……and I may never take it off again.
Who wants to feel pretty in a dress? EVERYONE!!! Well, perhaps not everyone, but you know what I mean!
As for me, I have much more I require in a dress! Especially a “little black dress.” For those of you who don’t know me, I hate pocketbooks. I’ve never liked them. Never carried them throughout my life. RELUCTANTLY have a couple of small ones for occasions that I have to “dress up” and there are no pockets in the “fancy” dress I’ve chosen for the special occasion. Such a pain in the royal backside.
Lately, I’ve been noticing a fashion trend…..pockets being incorporated into beautiful dresses, ones that can even be found on the runway. Apparently, after shopping for such dresses, they seemed to only be found on the runway. But then, when I was just ready to throw my hands up, eShakti entered my world……..and there it was, a little black dress WITH POCKETS. I fell in love at first site. The problem was, first site happened after a bit of a torrid affair with a little green dress….
My first attempt at finding a dress with eShakti did not work out. The dress arrived. It was so beautiful. I loved everything about it. The quality, the color, the design. It was just as beautiful in person, as on the website. It was made so well. You would never think it was such an inexpensive dress – the craftsmanship screamed expensive, but the price tag shouted “totally budget-friendly.” But then I put it on. It wasn’t the right dress for my body. My Double D’s overpowered the whole thing, and I was devastated.
I cried to my husband. He said “be honest with them, let them know, I’m sure they’ll understand.”
So I contacted them, and they were happy to have me send it back, and put through an order for another dress. Just like that. So easy to deal with, even though the dress was customized for my measurements, they had no issues with taking it back, and telling me to choose another one. Just that much more value in their company, because taking care of your customers is the best way to ensure you’ll have loyal customers!
The second viewing of the website. There she was…..MY little black dress. It hadn’t been there the first time I went hunting, but man, I was beside myself with glee when I saw it there this time around. eshakti does a lot of updating on their site. New stuff being added all the time, so I have learned to check often! You just never know what you’ll find each day.
I ordered the little black dress, with my customized measurements, along with a little customizing on the length of it. I’m still young, so I like my dresses to fall ABOVE the knee. I kept the sleeves as they were in the original, because I liked the look. However, there were other options – including a long sleeve, cap sleeve and a few others. I anxiously awaited my Little Black Dress. I dreamed of the pockets, and what my kids would sneak into them when I wasn’t paying attention. I had a few occasions to wear the dress to, and I couldn’t wait to get it.
While on the computer, my little ones came down to my office with a package that Daddy had accepted from the DHL driver. MY DRESS. I tore that bad boy open, and ran up to my bedroom to try it on. As soon as I slipped it on, I knew it was PERFECTION just from the feel of it. It looks super expensive, but the dress is under $60. You would never know it, because when you take it out of the box, it looks “rich.” The color is a great black, the material feels amazing, like you aren’t wearing anything, but it’s 100% polyester. I know, you’re thinking “ICK.” But you’d think this was made from the most expensive materials, there’s no “synthetic” feeling to it. At least not in my book!
Let’s put it this way, if I can slip on a dress, and it feels like I’m not wearing anything at all, it’s a winner. It just feels like it belongs on me, and it’s got pockets. It’s the perfect cut for “my girls,” because they don’t overpower the dress. If they had this dress in every color of the rainbow, I’d buy every color (except pink, we know that just won’t happen in this lifetime.)
As you can see, you can keep it simple, with a pair of flip flops. Or you can dress it up with a nice belt, and cute shoes. If you have a scarf, add a little color if you like. The dress is so versatile, and once I get a better bra….well, it’ll look even better with the girls in their “proper” place.
