Navigate the Holidays with GameStop

Navigate the Holidays with GameStop

We’re all familiar with my lack of knowledge of the “gaming” world. It’s a totally new arena for me, and I’m slowly learning more. Not just more about the games, but also more about game consoles, and all that goes with them. When brands reach out to me to offer up assistance, I gladly take the help!

Let’s navigate the holidays with a little help

It’s hard to figure all of this out so I can become a fantastic shopper for my kids’ games. It’s kind of why I navigate the holidays with GameStop. The staff is always so knowledgeable when it comes to age-appropriate games, and which consoles are the best for different age groups. And the games……

My first experience with GameStop

I live on Long Island, and I hadn’t really been inside of a GameStop. Honestly, new to technology, and electronics, is a new thing for the kids. Older games they have are working out, for the time being. However, kids get gifts. Sometimes the gifts aren’t compatible with their game consoles, or handheld devices. Without a gift receipt, I didn’t know where to bring games, in order to exchange them for the correct gaming platforms.

First, I called the local store. The girl on the phone couldn’t have been nicer. I felt totally stupid, she re-assured me I wasn’t. Customer Service is a huge bonus with GameStop. I let her know I was heading there later today, and she said “great, we’ll see you later.”

The local GameStop is tiny. However, GameStop’s FILLED with games, and gaming systems. Brand new items sit alongside re-furbished items, such as: tablets, smartphones, and game systems. Who knew all of this existed in the store? It says GameStop, I thought it just had games! The staff was great. They took the unopened games, exchanged them for the right ones, and even gave me a credit for one because the different game console games are worth different amounts. I had no clue. It was a nice surprise!

Knowledge is key at GameStop

I don’t know if it’s because the people that staff the stores are from the video game generation of Wii, XBox, and PlayStation, but they are full of knowledge. I asked a ton of questions about specific games, and how they would be for my kids’ ages. The staff had answers. True, legit answers. They knew their stuff, like the ESRB rating search app.

Spending money at GameStop

GameStop has great prices on new games, and refurbished pre-owned games. It’s not just games, either. Again, GameStop sells top name brand refurbished: tablets, smartphones, iPods, and game consoles. When people bring their used items to GameStop, it is sent to a special facility that GameStop owns, and the items are refurbished. They stand behind their pre-owned, and refurbished products so much, they offer the same guarantees on their used stuff, as they do their new stuff.

My kids may not have “brand new” game systems, but with GameStop I don’t need a brand new one out of the box for the kids. Anything we buy at GameStop I’m confident will be top notch, and if it isn’t, GameStop will do the right thing for my family.

Plus, there’s the POWERUP Rewards Pro membership card. It’s going to cost money, but in the end, it benefits everyone who gets it with 10% off pre-owned games, and accessories. It also offers a 10% trade bonus for pre-owned games, and accessories. Plus, throughout the year, there’s chances for members only specials. If you just want the free version, no problem – you just won’t get a lot of the other benefits like the PRO members do.

I’ve been converted, I’m an official GameStop fan!

Disclosure: GameStop invited me to a lovely lunch in NYC at Sarabeth’s. We were treated to lots of information about GameStop, and kids & technology. GameStop also allowed us to visit a store, and gave us a few items in a goodie bag. All of the opinions in this article are 100 percent mine, and only mine.
