Let’s just put it out there: I’m not a tea drinker. I’ve never loved drinking it, and honestly I do all that I can to avoid having to drink it. However, when one is given the opportunity to try out tea that flaunts the fact it tastes like chocolate, or vanilla caramel, one takes the opportunity! Tazo Chai Tea definitely enticed me with the flavor promise. Did it deliver? Let’s find out!

Tazo Chai Tea: chocolate or vanilla?

My vote? Vanilla. Well, technically it was the TAZO Chai Vanilla Caramel latte. Mama can’t say no to anything that has caramel in it. I’ll take caramel over chocolate any day. I just mixed it with a little milk, and loaded up some crushed iced, stuck a straw in it and enjoyed while I did my morning work. Mr. Sunflower claimed it was just a bit too sweet, and he’d have to drink just a little of it over a long period of time.

Now, if you know my husband, this statement is just hysterical. This is a man who puts 10 sugar packets in unsweetened iced tea when we’re at a restaurant. If he thinks something is too sweet, it must be unreal sweet, right? I cut the sweetness by adding a bit more milk to the concentrate from the box. It says to put a 1-to-1 ratio of milk to concentrate. TOO SWEET for us. We just put in a bit more milk, and I enjoyed it. It does have a very strong Clove taste. It overpowers the caramel and vanilla. I’m not sure I’d buy this for myself, just because I prefer a stronger caramel flavor when I see caramel in the title of the product.

My husband? He preferred the TAZO Chai Chocolate tea from the tea bag. Mr. Sunflower enjoys his hot tea every morning. When it’s during the work week he makes the tea in a thermos, and drinks it at work. Normally, he just does the regular tea bag he’s used since he was in his 20s. He doesn’t stray from the “norm” much, but he tried the Chocolate Chai and enjoyed it. I took a sip, and honestly, it just tasted like regular tea to me. I hate regular tea. I expected more of a chocolate flavor/taste. I just didn’t get it.

If tea is your thing, you’ll probably love the Tazo Chai Chocolate. If you’re not a tea drinker, but love a sweet drink treat, head for the Tazo Chai Vanilla Caramel latte concentrate. It can be done cold, or hot. Cold worked better for me, as soon as I cut the sweetness with a bit of extra milk. Regular milk works, but Almond milk worked well, too.

Explore the flavors, but remember I warned you about the heavy hand they used with the Clove spice!!!!
