Ultherapy is the non-surgical answer to looking younger

Ultherapy a non-surgical answer to looking younger

Aging. It sucks. I don’t mind the wisdom that comes with age. However, I don’t enjoy looking at wrinkles, or sagging skin. Let’s not even get me started on the age spots! I still think I’m in my twenties, but my face gives away my age every time. I’d prefer keeping the wisdom, and giving back the wrinkles. As much as I dislike the signs of aging, I dislike surgery even more. Going under the knife to get a facelift, or have a brow lift, or my neck dealt with: not happening. What’s a girl to do? Find a non-surgical answer to looking younger, that’s what!

Ultherapy is the non-surgical answer to looking younger

Going under the knife to achieve a younger look, isn’t my cup of tea. Hell, I don’t even like tea! I barely drink coffee, too. I’m all about non-surgical ways to look younger, longer. I’m sharing a hidden secret, available on Long Island at the Truth + Beauty Spa! Ultherapy. What the heck is Ultherapy? It’s a rather interesting process, FDA-approved, that not only does a lift, but helps tighten the skin.

How does Ultherapy help you look younger, longer?

How does it do that? (Every time I see that line in writing, I think of the movie Working Girl, when Joan Cusack sees the chandelier comes down and she asks “Why does it do that?” Cracks me up.) Anyway, Ultherapy uses ultrasound to get deep into your face, and stimulate production of new collagen, as well as elastin. It uses ultrasound to tighten, as well as lift, the skin around the brow, neck and of course, under your chin.

If you didn’t know this, as all of us age, the collagen in the skin gets weaker. Along with the weaker collagen, comes the breaking down of elastin. The results of this “wonderful cycle of life,” is saggy skin. Saggy eyes, saggy chin, saggy face! You see the wrinkles start up, however, you’re at the mercy of nature. Well, that’s unacceptable to me! I’ll fight the aging process, tooth and nail, as long as there’s no surgery, or needles involved.

Does ultrasound affect the surface skin?

Even though the ultrasound is applied to your face, it doesn’t do anything to the surface skin. It’s much more interested in what’s under the skin. It focuses ultrasound energy at just the right depth, and just shakes up that world under your skin. It kicks up the body’s desire to start growing fresh, new collagen and elastin. It’s not an instant lift, though. All that growing of new collagen, along with elastin, takes time. Results after an Ultherapy treatment normally don’t show up until about 3 months later. If you’re super lucky, you might even see a bit more improvement after 6 months, too.

It’s not painless, just non-surgical

Having the procedure scared the life out of me. I’ve never even had a facial, so heading to Truth + Beauty Spa in Roslyn Heights: not an easy thing for me. However, Cori Goldfarb, the amazing owner of Truth + Beauty Spa, spoke so passionately about the procedure, I accepted her invitation to try it out. Plus, she’d done it, and I have to tell you, I didn’t believe her when she told me her real age. I kind of told her I thought she was full of sh*t. There was no way she was even close to her 40s, let alone well into her 40s.

If you’re thinking of getting Ultherapy, Truth + Beauty Spa is the place to get it done. The staff is super friendly. All of them are kind, warm, and welcoming. I truly believe it’s because they simply love what they do and want others to feel, and look, their best. My Ultherapy was done by Nicole. She was beyond amazing. She put me at ease from the moment I entered the treatment room.

Truth at Truth + Beauty

Everything was put out there on the table: it will be uncomfortable, but it’s not so painful you won’t be able to handle it. There’s going to be more painful parts of the process. Nicole made sure to ask me throughout the entire session if I was okay. She constantly asked how I was feeling, and if I was comfortable. I never felt silly if the pain caused me to tense up a bit, and she made sure to give me time to relax a bit before she hit me up again with the ultrasound.

Basically, the feeling it causes is kind of like the tingly feeling when your leg falls asleep, and then you move your leg around to “wake it up,” and get the pins and needles. Well, this pins and needles feeling also has heat with it, and is a bit more INTENSE than basic pins and needles. At times I hardly felt it, about five times it was about an 8, maybe a 9, on a scale of 1 to 10. Just because the ones closer to the bone resonate more.

Let me just tell you: Results can last close to a year, and for the luckier ones, it can last a bit longer. It’s not a PERMANENT solution, like going under the knife, but you know what? Getting a face lift with surgery isn’t a permanent solution, either. Almost anyone who has had a face lift, or brow lift, or eye lift, well, they go back again to have it freshened up. Ultherapy is no different, but it will have to be done more often.

Truth + Beauty Spa has more than Ultherapy

Nicole filled me in on some other treatments Truth + Beauty Spa offers, and my goal now is to save enough to get my lip, chin, under arms, and bikini areas treated for laser hair reduction. I despise shaving, and I want to get rid of all of it! Nicole’s my girl there. If you decide to get anything done at Truth + Beauty Spa, if Nicole does it, make sure you ask for her! I’m sure every person on the staff is just as fabulous, but Nicole gained my trust from the first moment I walked into that treatment room!

A huge thanks to the entire staff, including Cori Goldfarb, for their hospitality and service.
