Review: Red’s All Natural STEAK Burrito

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

An all natural burrito with NO ARTIFICIAL INGREDIENTS!!!! Use your microwave to have dinner in six minutes. “It cannot be,” you say. But I say, “Yes. It be.” It’s the perfect alternative to other convenient frozen foods! Why? Amazing ingredients.

Red's All Natural Burrito An all natural burrito with no artificial ingredients

I got my Red’s All Natural Steak Burrito at ShopRite. It was rather hard to find, buried in with a bunch of unhealthy items in the freezer section. I asked the guy stocking the freezer if he knew where they were. Luckily, he led me right to them. All four flavors, right there, for me to buy and bring home. SCORE! Looking at the package I noticed it said “heaping portions of steak raised without antibiotics, beans, brown rice and veggies.” It won me over. I flipped it over to see I could make it in the microwave, an oven, or, I could use a grill.

At home I decided to use the microwave, because I didn’t have to wait for it to thaw to heat it up that way. Let’s face it, it was the fastest way to get it from the package into my mouth. However, the microwave isn’t the best way to heat them up. The issue: it made the meat inside dried out, and chewy.

Next time, oven! Microwaves are all so different. Even though I put it in there for the specified time, it didn’t work out well.

  • all the flavors were great
  • the veggies were fine
  • meat and beans were dry

Make no mistake, though. I ate the whole thing!

Like I said, the flavors were there. Plus, it has REAL CHUNKS of meat! Chunks of meat aren’t the norm. Ground beef is more common.

The ingredients

Flour Tortilla (wheat flour, water, canola oil, salt, baking powder), Whole Grain Brown Rice, Beef Raised WITHOUT Antibiotics, Black Beans, Yellow Sweet Corn, Sour Cream (Cultured Pasteurized Grade A Milk, Cream Nonfat Milk, Enzymes), Tomato Puree (Water, Tomato Paste), Onions, Green Bell Peppers, Red Bell Peppers, Seasoning Blend (Dried Ancho Peppers, Ground Cumin Seed, Garlic Powder, Cayenne Pepper, White Pepper, Thyme, Allspice), Sea Salt, Cornstarch.

Steak burrito serving size

They consider HALF the burrito to be a serving size. If you’re like me, and half isn’t enough, whole thing is 620 calories. 140 calories from fat. I have to be honest, I have no clue if that’s good or bad. All I can say is: it tasted GOOD. I’d buy this again, no problem. It’s a great meal for $4.99!

Highly recommend using the oven to heat it up. You will have to thaw it out first, but once in the oven, it only takes 20 minutes to heat up. I’m just impatient and I had to have it ASAP. I’m so bad. I know. I yell at the kids about being impatient, and I’m ten times worse.
