Shutterfly Junkie at it again with making it a school year to remember

Shutterfly make it a year to remember

You may recall I’m a Shutterfly junkie. It’s my favorite place to create photo books. I’ve actually stopped ordering prints, and now I just make yearly photo books. Our house is just too small to print out all the pictures I take throughout the year, and jam into those photo albums I was getting from Walmart! The kids are just six years old and four years old, and those damn photo albums have taken over the entire house. Plus, too much time was spent putting the pix in order, then inserting them into the albums.

Instead, I head to Shutterfly, I started a new photo book in January, and as I take photos, throughout the year, I just take a few minutes each month to arrange some on a page for the month. By the end of the year, I’ve got a fantastic collection of all my favorite shots from January through December. It works out fantastic for me. Saves me time, space, and a whole of aggravation of dealing with having photos printed!

Last year we had our first Family Vacation together, all four of us. I made a special book just for that vacation, plus the yearly book was done, too. Whoops, I almost forgot. My kids share a birthday month, so for the month of November, between their parties, and festivities, I make a book just for their birthdays each year. It’s just pix from their individual birthdays, plus their party. Doing the separate books allows me to highlight special events from the year, but also still have that “capsule” of all my favorite images from the year.

Parents aren’t the only ones who can do this, anyone can put together a photo book! Grandparents, aunts, uncles, ANYONE can do it. You don’t have to be creative, Shutterfly takes care of all the creative! Great layouts, designs, and now they even have embellishments to add to pages! It’s so easy to use, and the books are fantastic. High quality, and such a great value! Honestly, they should probably charge more, but I’m glad that they don’t!

Calling all parents and teachers

An amazing addition to the site, which really isn’t new, I’ve shared it before. However, it’s such an amazing addition to Shutterfly, plus it’s getting to that time of the year again when school’s going to come to an end! It’s time to start thinking about creating a Shutterfly Yearbooks. I think every “yearbook committee” should take advantage if this for their school! Heck, if the school doesn’t want to do it, PTA and class moms should take advantage of the yearbooks for their kids’ class. I know, you think I’m nuts. It’s a lot of work, it would never be done in time, no one will work together on it……

Honestly, I totally understand. Our school’s principal is so ANTI PARENTS at our elementary school, she’d fight it every step of the way. However, if you’re a part of a school that’s actually okay with parents being involved in their child’s school life, I think this yearbook idea is fantastic! Plus, Shutterfly works with you to create an amazing book. They have tips, tricks, and checklists!

If you’re totally lost, and cannot imagine doing this for your school, no worries. Shutterfly.com’s got a Tips & Tricks PDF to help! Need to find a few shortcuts, and perhaps some ideas? Shutterfly has a whole spot to help you create an elementary school yearbook! If you’re not super sure of what kinds of photos should be included in the yearbook, not an issue. Shutterfly has a fantastic list, along with some suggestions made by others in the comments on the photo list page!

When you’re ready to start, I think the best place to head on the site is the yearbook schedule and timeline page. You can download the PDF to help keep you on track to create the best elementary school yearbook your kids’ school has ever had!

Perhaps I might try this with my son’s school……he’s still in PreK, not in the district’s actual school buildings, so there’s a fighting chance I might be able to do this! My daughter’s school did it for them when she graduated PreK. It was done rather poorly, because there wasn’t Shutterfly to rely on! Fingers crossed! Maybe The Boy’s school might be interested in it!

*Disclaimer: Shutterfly.com is providing me with a photo book of my very own as a thank you for sharing this information with you. SWEET!
