Temporary cellulite reduction with THERMIsmooth® body

In order to facilitate this review series, Elyse S. Rafal, M.D., P.C., & her staff at Center for Aesthetic Dermatology & Laser Surgery, provided me with services at no cost. All opinions are 100 percent my own.

Temporary cellulite reduction sounds like a crazy concept, I know. However, it’s something people are doing. How are people doing this? It’s done with THERMIsmooth® body, and I’m jumping on the train to reduce my fat cells! Even better? I’m sharing my journey with all of you, so you’ll know the truth behind this new phenomena.

Rapid weight loss causes strange things to a woman’s body

If you’ve been with me since I started November Sunflower, you know I’ve battled weight issues. Most of my youth, I was a typical kid. I’d get a little thicker, sprout up a couple of inches, thin out and then, thicken a bit, grow a bit, and thin out. I was never obese, or even what one would consider overweight. High school hit, I had some issues, and my weight just spiraled out of control. It continued to do so for years, until 2001.

In 2001 I decided enough was enough, and I dropped a bunch of weight. It was a gradual weight loss, and my skin, because it was young, snapped back without many issues. Awesome. Cut to me years later, after two kids. I wasn’t feeling great, with headaches and exhaustion all the time. I chose to use a fantastic system to get my health under control, and the side effect? Weight loss! However, it was much faster and my skin, not being young anymore, sagged.

Yup. I spent the next 5 years trying to “workout” and snap that skin back into place. HAHAAAA, yeah, right. I gained a bit of weight back, quickly lost it again, but it left my stomach all out of sorts. Apparently, it just wants to hold onto the super fat cells and saggy skin. Depressing as hell, but a phone call came to me one fine morning that changed my outlook!

Temporary cellulite reduction with THERMIsmooth® body

A lovely woman, Lauren, was contacting me to ask me if I’d heard of a temporary cellulite reduction process known as THERMIsmooth® body. I told her no, I’d only heard of the crazy one that froze fat. She laughed and told me they did that, too, but THERMIsmooth was heat based, and temporary. Temporary meaning the fat cells wouldn’t be gone, just reduced, and the results remove the fat cells permanently.

My first question? Does it hurt? I’d been through a procedure on my face, to help with reducing the signs of aging, and it hurt. Like, 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. She assured me it wasn’t painful. It was more like a warm massage.

Let’s do it, let’s get this temporary cellulite reduction going

Once I knew it wasn’t going to hurt, and had read up on the THERMIsmooth procedure, I told her “let’s do it, let’s get this temporary cellulite reduction going.” Instead of all the crunches, and planks I was doing, without any results, I was ready to have help with my extremely stubborn belly fat and saggy skin.

My first appointment came, and Lauren, as well as Dr. Rafal, came up with a plan and my first treatment was done on February 27th. Each area takes 20 minutes, but I’m getting two areas done at one time, so it took 40 minutes. I enjoyed every minute of it, since it just felt like a massage on my stomach. It wasn’t very hot, and the reason? Unfortunately, I have large fat cells, so until they shrink a bit, I won’t feel much of the heat on the surface of my skin.

Updates as we goooooo

As I receive treatments, I’m sharing updates. I have 8 treatments scheduled, as that’s what Nurse Lauren, and Dr. Rafal think is the right amount of treatments for my problem area. I’ll be sharing before, and after images. Letting you know key information I learn as I go through the process. Basically, you’ll get the good, the not so good, and everything in between! So stay tuned, follow along here, and on my novsunflower Instagram account!

So far, I have learned:

  • Do not wear jewelry to your appointments, because you’ll be asked to remove it (I lost one of my earrings in the office, but the staff found it and returned it to me ASAP)
  • The process helps boost your metabolism, not just reduce fat cells
  • You won’t be peeing more, just because of the procedure, but you will have to drink a lot of water after each treatment, so that’s going to make you pee more
  • Wear comfy, loose fitting clothing to your appointments
  • If you wear a bra with an underwire, skip putting it on, since they’ll ask you to remove it
  • The cream/gel they put on before the wands hit you, is pretty cold.

Keep coming back for more updates! I’m excited to share my journey with the staff at Center for Aesthetic Dermatology & Laser Surgery in Stony Brook, right on Long Island!
