Family Fall Activities for Thanksgiving

Here are four activities you can do together to create an unforgettable holiday experience for your family.

Try New Recipes

Everyone is about tradition. While there is nothing wrong with having all the classics at dinner, a new dish can add some excitement. If you worry about calories, then adding a new vegetable recipe may help. No one will complain about more dessert. Trusted dishes include items with cherry, apple, or pumpkin. Add some pizzazz by adding coconut, peanut butter, chocolate, or pecan dishes to the menu.

Family Movie Night

The holidays are a great time to curl up with the kids and enjoy some great holiday classic movies. Taking a movie night out used to be a common holiday family activity, but with the pandemic still going, a home movie night is more in line with social distancing recommendations. Pull out some special snacks and popcorn, curl up on the couch, and enjoy family classics as a family.

Making Gifts

To ensure everyone remembers Thanksgiving dinner, you can customize a craft with the year or a name. Candles are excellent for gift giving or personalization. You can purchase candle making supplies online or at your local hardware store. If you want to get a head start on holiday gifts, then these items are quick and fun to jazz up. Gifts like this can provide great family bonding time while also showing your more extended family how much you care.

Volunteering

Giving is an important part of the holiday season. Many people show graciousness for the things they have in life by helping the less fortunate. If you cannot volunteer in person, then there are still things you can do to help others. Tutoring youth, reading to young children, and video calling people in nursing homes are fantastic ways to help people from your home. You can include the entire family in these activities.

Eating, laughing, making things, and giving are staples during Thanksgiving. Embody these activities by making sure your family has new and exciting ways to take part in the festivities. If your gathering is small, then an outdoor activity will likely be the most beneficial. For families with six or eight people, crafts are easier if you have bowls of decorations and let people adorn ornaments, coasters, candles, jewelry, and other items with creative designs. You may find a new hobby or the passion to start a new business.
