Tips to Refresh Your Beauty Routine for Warmer Weather

During the transition from winter to spring, there are many people who will begin to “spring clean” their lives. They take on the attitude of “out with the old, in with the new.” This may include a new hairdo, getting rid of heavy winter clothing, and more.

However, amid all this change, you cannot afford to ignore your beauty routine. Was your “winter skin” dry, flaky, tight, or covered in blemishes? Then it’s definitely time to refresh your beauty routine.

Exfoliate First

The first thing you need to do for your skin after the harsh winter conditions is to begin an exfoliation routine. When you do this, you can smooth out your skin’s texture, remove dead skin cells, and unclog your pores. It may be a good idea to finally use that dermal repair complex coupon you have been saving to get a product that will help you repair all the winter damage that has occurred.

The benefits of exfoliation are significant. Even though this is true, you do not need to give in to temptation and make exfoliation part of your daily beauty routine. You have to give your skin the time to recover. A good schedule to follow is to exfoliate two to three times per week. If you have sensitive skin, once per week is fine.

Replace Your Loofah

Loofahs have become a common accessory used in showers and bathtubs. However, you may not think about replacing your loofah from time to time. What you may not realize is that a loofah can be a breeding ground for all types of germs and bacteria.

This year, you have a rather simple choice: You can replace your current loofah or you can ditch it altogether. Instead, purchase a body cleanser that includes lactic acid or glycolic acid. By using a glycolic cream or wash, you will have an extended release of cell turnover.

Make Dry Brushing a Part of Your Routine

Dry brushing may be a skincare habit that some celebrities, such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr swear by; however, you should not think that dry brushing is just a trend – this is something that even dermatologists recommend.

When used properly, dry brushing is an effective method of exfoliating your skin. For the best results, be sure to brush toward your heart, which allows for increased blood flow and better lymphatic drainage. If your skin is sensitive, try to find a dry brush that contains softer bristles. If you do not want to use a dry brush, but you want the same effects, consider using a body peel.

Use Lighter Formulas Instead of Heavy Creams

After winter, you need to change out the heavier creams for a lighter formula. Consider using natural oils for hydration instead of thicker lotions. This is a good idea as your skin starts to develop more oil and cases of dehydration fade away. Adjust your usual cleanser during the spring to remove any excess sweat or oil from the warmer weather.

There are some things you should ditch during spring, too. One of these is an apricot scrub, which is quite abrasive. Additionally, many people push too hard while using this scrub. Incorrectly using an apricot scrub or similar product can cause micro-cutting in your tissues.

Another product to avoid this spring is coconut oil. It may do more harm than good in the long run because it can clog your pores. If you naturally have acne-prone skin or oily skin, you may find that coconut oil exacerbates your issues. It is better to use grapeseed or jojoba oil instead.

If you want to ensure your beauty routine is ready for warmer weather, be sure to use the tips and information found here. Doing so will give you the best chance of getting the beautiful and healthy skin you want for the summer months.
