There are lots of different ways you can prepare fish for dinner. Some may be more appealing to you and your family’s palate than others. Here are some ways you can cook fish for dinner using unique flavors.
Easily cook fish for dinner for you and your family
Traditional Deep Fried
One of the most common ways people enjoy eating their fish: deep fried. Season your dredging material so it doesn’t overpower the flavor of the fish. Mix your seasonings in with an egg and coat the individual fillets. Heat your oil ahead of time so it’s bubbling. Olive oil and vegetable oil are the more popular choices of oils to use. Carefully place your dredged fillets into the oil. Cook until golden brown. You may want to only cook one fillet at a time unless you have a large enough pan to hold multiple fillets without having them touch.
Wood Smoked Flavors
Since some fish can have a delicate flavor, you may want to consider cooking on maple wood to complement it. Maple has a fruity flavor it can impart to a white or lightly flavored fish. The traditional method for cooking the fish is to bake it on the wood plank. Select your seasonings carefully so they aren’t too bold. Squeeze some lemon juice on top of the fish so it can brown more easily. Make sure to only cook the fish for 20 minutes so it doesn’t dry out.
Baked Fish in Parchment
The method of cooking in parchment paper is one way to retain the moisture of the meat. It’s also good for cooking your vegetables at the same time. Place your fillet on top of the parchment paper. Season it lightly with some fresh herbs like thyme and salt and pepper. Squeeze a little bit of lemon juice. Add your vegetables on top of the fish. Place it in the oven for approximately ten minutes. This will give it enough time to impart the flavors to the meat and keep it moist.
Healthy Braised Fish
Season your fillets to taste. Give them a quick searing on both sides. Make sure to only sear them for one minute on each side. Add your broth to the pan. You can choose to put your vegetables into the broth in order to give it more body. Cook the broth and fish mixture for ten minutes for each inch of the fish’s thickness. It’s important for cooking the fish all the way through. Make sure the broth completely covers the fish in order to retain moisture.
The hardest part of cooking fish may end up being choosing which type of fish to prepare. Best of luck with cooking your next fish dinner!
