Whenever I hear cocoa, I immediately think about a chocolaty, steamy, whipped creamy, marshmallowy liquid hug in a mug! A hot cup of cocoa is the truest way to feel comfort when you don’t have someone to wrap you up in a hug. Imagine my surprise when I went hunting around the internet for a good hot cocoa recipe and found dessert recipes using cocoa powder! Yep, you can find a lot of cocoa powder recipes all over Google – so I picked my favorites that I know taste damn good to share with you!
Simply Delicious Recipes Using Cocoa Powder
Now, I’m sure there’s plenty of savory things you can incorporate cocoa powder into, but for me, it just screams dessert. So guess what kinds of recipes I’ve collected? That’s right….. desserts!
Chocolate Mousse
AllRecipes.com’s Blender Chocolate Mousse doesn’t just have cocoa powder, but also instant espresso powder. Espresso and chocolate are the perfect duo in dessert. You can’t go wrong when you mash them up, or in this case, blend them up!
Fudge Brownies
Once again….we’re mashing up espresso and cocoa powders! Fudgy brownies with a great crackly top makes Baker by Nature’s The Best Cocoa Fudge Brownies the best damn brownies you’ll ever bake in your own kitchen. Overstatement? Perhaps, but you’ll have to try baking them for yourself and prove me wrong!
Chocolate Cream Pie
Taste of Home’s Chocolate Cream Pie doesn’t actually call for powder, but it does call for baking cocoa. Listen, it’s still powder, so that’s what’s up! I love using this recipe because there’s a few tips to build upon the basic chocolate cream pie. Put a bit of brandy in it, or make the crust out of chocolate wafers…. so many options.
Tiramisu
If you’ve around for a bit of time here, or on my socials, you know Tiramisu is my favorite dessert. Don’t be fooled by the name Hot Chocolate Tiramisu for Taste of Home’s recipe. It’s not hot chocolate. It’s made with baking cocoa. Enjoy!
Hot Cocoa
Of course, I can’t have a cocoa powder recipe collection without a Hot Cocoa recipe like this one from Sugar Spun Run. This one is interesting as it asks for a pinch of salt in the recipe. You’ll love it. I promise. Salt brings out the sweetness of chocolate (I mean, salted caramel, right?).
Personally, any recipe with cocoa powder is a good one. Head into the kitchen and whip up all your favorite desserts – now you have homemade gifts you can bring to holiday parties. You’re welcome!
