If all you’ve ever made with avocado fruit is guacamole or avocado toast, you’re missing out! Yes, guacamole and avocado toast are awesome. However, avocado has multiple uses in a variety of recipes – and, let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than eating the same ingredients in the same meals every day!
Enjoy Your Avocado Fruit in Multiple Ways
If you think you’re tired of including this popular ingredient in your daily meals, you’ll enjoy some of these options to change things up! And we’ll start with two of the most popular avocado recipes you’ve been eating for years – but, with a little somethin’ different.
Avocado Toast
What goes the best with avocado? Well, if you ask me, almost everything. However, most people gravitate towards guacamole because of the combination of avocado and tomato. Why not bring those flavors to your avocado toast in a couple of different ways, right?!!!
Guacamole
When it comes to guacamole, I’m a huge fan. However, I always tweak the recipes I find online. If a recipe calls for yellow onion I replace it with red onion. I also swap out cilantro, usually with parsley, because as I got older my tastebuds changed and cilantro began tasting like soap. Unfortunate for me, but it is what it is and I had to accept it. But man, I miss cilantro.
So when making Downshiftology’s guacamole, I swap out the two ingredients I mentioned, and it tastes amazing even with my updates.
Green Smoothie
Avocado is a fat. When smoothie recipes don’t account for that by throwing in some acid, it drives me nuts. One of my favorite fruits, other than avocado, is pineapple (I also love peaches and strawberries in case you wanted to know, and oranges if someone peels them for me). Love and Lemons gets me in so many ways, so her Avocado Smoothie recipe is my favorite!
Avocado Salad
Now, personally, for me, an avocado salad is pretty much a deconstructed guacamole. However, you can’t have an avocado fruit recipe collection without including an avocado salad. Once again, I’m swapping out the cilantro for this one, but I also like to add thinly sliced cucumber. Don’t ask me why, it just works. Give Delish Knowledge’s Mexican Avocado Salad a try for your next middle of the day meal.
Avocado Burger
Most people slap a couple of slices of avocado on top of a burger and call it an avocado burger. SORRY, that’s not an avocado burger! Emily’s Fresh Kitchen incorporates avocado into the burger mix making it a true avocado fruit burger. And you know what, you can also slap a few slices of avocado fruit on top, too. No one’s stopping you!
Avocado Fried Egg
Once you’ve cracked an egg into the void left behind by an avocado’s pit – you’ll never want to eat a fried egg any other way.
Chicken Avocado Soup
Want a little upgrade to your favorite chicken soup? Your answer is avocado fruit. I found a Chicken Avocado Soup recipe on Pinterest and it’s pretty damn good! It even froze well, too.
Stuffed Avocado
What do you stuff an avocado with? Well I like to stuff it with everything I’d put in a taco shell. One of my favorite stuffed avocado recipes is Carlsbad Cravings’ baked ground meat taco stuffed avocado recipe.
Fried Avocado
I’ve always found it weird how we all take fairly healthy foods and decide to throw them in oil and fry them…basically cancelling out any healthy attributes the fried food has. But man, this recipe for fried avocados from The Recipe Critic just works. I love using Panko breadcrumbs over traditional ones, but if you want to swap them out, I’m sure it’ll be fine.
If you’ve avoided avocado fruit because you’re bored with old standby recipes like guac and toast – fear not, there’s plenty more recipe options to try and fall in love with the powerhouse fruit again.
