As a kid, I spent my money on books. During the few trips to the mall we took, I headed straight to the bookstore to use all my money to buy books. I had an eclectic reading list back then, and frankly, still do! Before I could read, my mother read to me. We had a ton of storybooks and all of the Dr. Suess books. Many of my childhood books are still in my mom’s basement!
Once I learned to read, I found myself lost in books by Ann M. Martin, Judy Blume, Francine Pascal. As I moved into my teen years I loved Jackie Collins novels. Throughout high school, I read classics like The Great Gatsby, The Catcher in the Rye, The Bell Jar, Of Mice and Men, The Scarlett Letter, 1984, Jane Eyre, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and so many more.
Do I write because I read, or do I read because I write?
Truth be told, I’m not sure if I became a writer because I fell in love with the worlds I could live in through the words on the page. Or, if I devour books because they inspire me to write. I always assumed people who lost themselves in the words on the pages other authors have poured into books, were also passionate writers. Shockingly, this is not the case! There’s just straight-up book lovers who aren’t inspired to write – at all. WHAT???!!!! I thought the two went hand-in-hand.
Eclectic Reading List for my fellow bibliophiles
I suspect, the fact that my mother fed my book loving passion from an early age, is what also sparked my obsession with writing. However, I also believe my desire to keep my writing skills sharp is why I read so much. So, for me, one cannot exist without the other. I mean, I read for enjoyment, as well as to learn, heal, and experience significant transformations, along with absorbing as much as I can about the fine art of writing. It’s why the books on my eclectic reading list are just that, broad and diverse. So let’s dig in!

Clearly you can see I feed my mind with a variety of knowledge, as well as some brain candy, too. I’m always excited to consume as much knowledge as I can about my body and health, as well as how to improve myself and my small business, and of course, delight it with smut and true stories of people who have overcome complicated lives. A healthy dose of travel books keeps me sane between my own trips!
