Spaghetti Recipes to Make for National Spaghetti Day

As an Italian, you can only imagine how much pasta I have consumed throughout my many years living on this planet. A large portion of those pasta meals involved the humble spaghetti pasta. Honestly, growing up, I wasn’t a huge fan of any spaghetti recipes. Mostly because the noodles were thick and clunky to twirl with my fork in my little hands. Enter angel hair pasta, a.k.a. Capellini! It was a tiny blessing! I could easily twirl it around my fork with ease and a spaghetti lover was born!

Celebrate National Spaghetti Day with these Spaghetti Recipes

Whether you love regular, or angel hair, you’ll always walk away with a full stomach with any of these amazing recipes! But first, if you don’t want boxed pasta, start any recipe by making your own homemade pasta. It’s a lot easier than you’d think! Once you’ve mastered homemade pasta, it’s time to get creative with delicious sauces, ingredients, and flavors!

Spaghetti Aglio e Olio

Pasta on its own, especially fresh instead of boxed, doesn’t need a whole lot of bells and whistles. One of the simplest spaghetti recipes keeps pasta the star, but simply enhances it with a bit of oil and garlic. It’s super fast to make, and full of flavor, especially if you add some chili pepper flakes! Definitely a great quickie meal on a weeknight.

Spaghetti and Meat Sauce Recipe

When you have a little time to spend on dinner, nothing goes better with a hearty spaghetti pasta like a homemade Italian meat sauce. If you’re not into ground beef, swap it out for your favorite minced meat. Ground turkey works well, or hit it up with the popular meatball mix: beef, pork, and veal. You won’t be making meatballs, but the meat mixtures can all be used for this spaghetti meat sauce recipe.

Church Supper Spaghetti

It might not be an Italian dish, but the star of the show is spaghetti! You can feed a small gathering with the original church supper recipe, or double it and feed a larger gathering!

Ultimate Spaghetti Carbonara

Carbonara is probably one of the most popular dishes one can use when preparing spaghetti. More often than not, carbonara is used with many other pastas like Bucatini, or Linguini. Traditionally long pastas work best for carbonara, but once you’ve mastered the art of making it, you can use any old pasta you want to use. Plus, you can start adding some greens into it, like spinach.

15-minute Garlic Shrimp Spaghetti

Another super quick weekday meal that packs a punch incorporates garlic, shrimp, and butter with a beautiful pasta – regular or angel hair – spaghetti! Thankfully, not all spaghetti recipes are time consuming! This one doesn’t take a ton of time, which is perfect for any night of the week in-between school activities and work.

Spaghetti & Meatballs

When someone hears spaghetti, they immediately think “spaghetti and meatballs“. It’s like peanut butter and jelly. You hear one, you immediately say the other. Just a reflex for most humans living in the states. Perhaps even other countries, too. It takes a bit more time to make this dish, but you can cut out some of the time by baking off the meatballs instead of frying them in a pan.

Feeding yourself, or your family, can be a bit of a chore. We have to consider nutrition, and tastebuds. Often, pasta really does satisfy the pickiest eaters. Even if you make the whole dish for most of your family members, and leave a bit of plain to the side for the members who aren’t fans of lots of ingredients and enjoy the less is more cooking approach! I have one of them, and even as he tries different things, him an his stomach still prefer plain stuff. Spaghetti recipes fill the need for everyone in some way or another.
