What Makes the Highest Quality Kitchenware?

If you plan to do a lot of cooking for yourself, your kids, or your whole family, then it’s important you have the right tools on hand. Many people buy the first thing they see on the shelf, but they might not know what goes into top quality kitchenware. The style and material of any cookware has a major impact on the quality of the product and, thereafter, the quality of the food.

What makes the highest quality kitchenware?

If you’re going to cook at home on a regular basis, here are a few tips to make sure that you’re set up to succeed.

Measuring Cups

Adding some high-quality measuring cups to your cookware collection helps you use accurate amounts of ingredients in every recipe. The types of cups you choose may depend on the specific purpose you’ll use them. Quality stainless steel cups are generally easier to keep sanitized and are more compact than the brightly colored plastic ones.

However, if you’re a strong visual learner, then brightly colored cups may help you remember measurements for recipes better. It’s important to know, however, you shouldn’t use the same measuring cups for liquids and solids. Even if the amount that the recipe gives is exactly the same, liquid measuring cups take into account surface tension that pushes the liquid above or below the tip of the measuring cup. A clear, glass measuring cup will allow you to get much more accurate measurements than one meant for dry ingredients.

Saucepans

Copper is a common material you’ll find in high-quality saucepans. It has excellent conductive properties allowing it to heat up and cool down more quickly according to the heat that it’s exposed to. This means it’s a great choice if you’re cooking sauces or side dishes that are sensitive to temperature changes.

Brooklyn Copper saucepans and similar brands are five times more conductive than cast-iron and twenty-five times more than stainless steel. This allows for greater control whilst cooking, though copper cookware is also generally more expensive.

Cooking Utensils

For the best cooking utensils, the material you want depends heavily on what you plan to use it for. Whisks, ladles, spoons, tongs, and other materials will often come into contact with hot liquids and should be stainless steel. Of course, wooden spoons are a classic favorite.

While many voice concerns that the moisture-wicking properties of wood can lead to bacterial growth, those liquids the wood picks up don’t come back to the surface. They’re also resistant to growing bacteria, making them perfectly hygienic for cooking with.

As for spatulas of all kinds, unless they’re being used on a grill, BPA-free silica is an excellent material. It won’t scrape non-stick surfaces and are resistant to melting (unlike cheaper plastic spatulas).

Pots

The pots in your cookware collection are the items that will probably hold the majority of the foods you cook. A top quality pot can have many useful features. We think you’ll appreciate one that has a high resistance to corrosion and is relatively easy to clean.

Many copper pots:

  • resist wear and tear
  • disperse heat evenly across the surface of the item
  • usually have low maintenance

Heat dispersion is the most important feature you look for in a quality pot, as this will allow for faster boil times and more even cooking.

Quality cookware can vary slightly depending on the models you’re looking at and their intended uses. However, they usually feature materials that are designed for both durability and versatility in the home kitchen. Kitchenware such as this is an investment that can help you provide great meals at home for a long time.
