Packing lunch, and snack, every day is sort of the worst part of my daily routine. My daughter has a class with kids that have allergies, so I try to not send items that would harm the kids. In Kindergarten, my son has a close friend with a severe peanut allergy, so I definitely won’t send him to school with any type of peanut butter items, either. What’s left for these kids? Lunches we’ve got more options, but snacks? Snack choices are limited. Little Miss gets bored with pretzels, crackers, and healthy types of chips. The Boy? He’s rather easy each day with snacks, and he won’t touch fruit, unless it’s a grape. He’s good with pretzels, crackers, and sometimes fruit bites. Just because the word fruit’s in the name, doesn’t mean it’s healthy – so he’s good with these options. Little Miss? There’s only so much time I have each day, and cutting up fruit for her isn’t going to happen, so instead, we’re going to get her started with Del Monte® Squeezers and Snacks!
My issue with most pre-packed fruit snack cups? The corn syrup, rather the HIGH FRUCTOSE corn syrup, most of them are made with. Luckily, Del Monte® Mango Pineapple Fruit Cup® Snacks doesn’t have it, plus they are made with all natural mangoes and pineapples. Oh, and they’ve got Vitamin C in them – that helps boost the health factor, for sure.
The Boy isn’t into eating healthy, but he does like sweet stuff. I figured, if Del Monte® took the time to hide fruits and veggies in their Fruit Burst® Squeezers, he could give them a little taste…..and he did. It didn’t end well. He was livid I’d tricked him with healthy food that tasted good. THE NERVE of Mommy. Little Miss is a fruit and veggie lover, so she sucked those Squeezers dry. She actually asked me to cut it open so she could lick the inside……I was tempted, but I didn’t. I can’t set that kind of example, right? People will think she’s crazy for so many reasons, why add cutting open Del Monte® Fruit Burst® Squeezers to the list!
