Stop Hitting Snooze

Your energy level may also be tied to another one of your behaviors. Many people struggle with getting out of bed in the morning; however, one change you can make that will work wonders is stop using your snooze button. While it may feel satisfying to get a few minutes of extra slumbers, this can actually leave you feeling groggy and less alert. Instead of hitting snooze, get right up and take charge of your day off right away.

Get to Bed Earlier

Another reason why you may struggle with energy or getting out of bed could be due to your quantity of sleep. If you aren’t getting enough hours or proper quality sleep, you may struggle to have the energy you need throughout the day. Instead of leaving your body deprived of the necessary energy it craves, go to bed earlier. Try a few minutes per day to make a true improvement that is gradual and reasonable.

Make Changes Gradually

If you are already feeling like this sounds like a lot to manage, the most important thing is to make these changes gradually. You don’t need to change your life overnight, but rather, take time to gradually introduce healthier habits and behaviors into your life. If you drastically upend your life suddenly, you may be leading yourself down an unsustainable road. Instead, take some time to assess your routine to see what is and is not working. From there you can make small, gradual changes to lead you to real and positive changes that are manageable over the long term.

Create a List and Be Flexible

By visualizing and listing all of your current behaviors and desired changes, you can evaluate your evolution from a bird’s eye view. Once you have everything down on paper you can create lists and structures to help you remain accountable for your positive change. This gives you the chance to see all of your goals and evaluate how reasonable they are and if your schedule works. You must be flexible with your plan and open to changes, as this will make it formidable to the changes and adjustments of your life.

Stop Getting in Your Own Way

You may be surprised to learn that one of the biggest obstacles in your journey to make positive progress is you. Whether you struggle with negative self-talk, the challenges of comparison or follow-through, you may be the only thing getting in the way of positive progress. If you struggle to see positive change happen in your life, take a step back and see if you are what is getting in your way.

Making a positive change in your life this fall is more achievable and manageable than you ever imagined. You can take control of your future and all it takes are a few steps and changes that you can integrate over time. While you should not expect stellar results overnight, you should think about this as a long journey where you can continue to make choices for the better. When the leaves begin to change, take this as your cue to start making that positive change in your life.
