Basically, I hauled my cookies, and those of my family, into New York City to participate in breaking a world record, but more importantly help raise money for Make-A-Wish. We also celebrated the brand new release of a Colgate product, which I purchased at #Walgreens in Times Square.
Let’s say you wanted to head to NYC, and spend a 90 degree day standing in Duffy Square (which is basically Times Square) without any shade. Oh, and you want to bring your kids, and meet up with some interesting people, and try to break a World Record, and raise some money for a good cause. Plus, fight cavities! How would you do it? Let me tell you how I did it!
Imagine if you will, a beautiful, hot, humid, and hazy day. It’s 7 in the morning, and you’ve got two kids, and a husband, to get up, fed, dressed and out the door to catch an 8:31am train to New York City. Yeah, it isn’t a pretty site, I know! What the heck are we all doing up, and at the train station so early on the second day of Summer vacation?
Apparently, my daughter is deep into her Kindle game…….she doesn’t really care why we’re up, and on the train so early.
Unbeknownst to her, we’ve actually got a reason for this early morning trip into New York City!
We’re buying Colgate Total® Advanced Pro-Shield™ Mouthwash at Walgreens in Times Square. You know the one, right under the “ball” that drops on New Year’s Eve. It’s three floors of awesomeness, and being that Walgreens is one of my favorite places to shop whether in NYC, or Long Island, it would be shopping heaven for me!
Why go so far for Colgate’s brand new product? We wanted to participate in raising money for a good cause, and try to break a world record. It could only be done in NYC, on a hot day, in June, with hundreds of other crazy people trying to raise money for Make-A-Wish. It was the A Wish for a Swish OFFICIAL ATTEMPT for the Guinness World Records. I had been invited by none other than #CBias, or if you wish, Social Fabric!
Hundreds of people all waited for over an hour, and after a lovely visit from Stacy Keibler (yeah, George Clooney’s lady friend,) we got the chance to swish the Colgate Total® Advanced Pro-Shield™ Mouthwash for 15 seconds AT THE SAME TIME.
Sure, it was a bit of a hike to attend the event, but it was for Make-A-Wish. They grant wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses. How does anyone not love an organization who does amazing work like that? It was our pleasure to head into NYC, deal with the heat, and sun, for an hour! It’s all worth it, because Colgate is going to give $1.00 for every person that showed up to help break the record.
Ironically, my children had dentist appointments earlier in the week. My daughter is a dream when going to the dentist. She loves how they clean teeth, and how she’s doing her part in the world of “teeth protection.” The kid wants to be a dentist. It’s darn cute.
My son? He’s a bona fide nightmare when going to the dentist. Hates it. Despises brushing his teeth every day. It’s a real torture chamber for me, and the whole family. However, the kid likes to swish mouthwash…..and he’s a big fan of the spitting it out part. Usually all over my bathroom mirror, faucet, counter…..it rarely ends up in the actual sink. However, I’m okay with this, because it’s just necessary for him to do, since he stinks at brushing his teeth. The extra protection from cavities, and the clean mouth results, makes life a lot calmer for us when he does have to go to the dentist…..he’s just getting them checked and he’s a maniac. I can only imagine if they had to fill a cavity. I’d need to be medicated, forget him!
Buying Colgate Total® Advanced Pro-Shield™ Mouthwash is a large part of our arsenal against cavities, and it’s the main reason why we’re big on swishing every night before bed!
And if you don’t believe me, it truly was a “red carpet” event! Where else can one take a photo with a giant bottle of mouthwash? By PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS no less!

Yeah, we get a little nutty after the heat! Plus, a few other “celebrities” getting their photos with the big bottle of mouthwash!
