Organizing Oasis….in Westbury?

Disclosure: I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.

The Container Store [sponsored]It’s here. The mecca for oddballs like me. All of us organization freaks finally have our place of worship, and believe it or not, it’s in Westbury. Well, TECHNICALLY it’s in Garden City on Old Country Road. The Westbury part comes into play, because it’s the first store to open at the “work in progress” called The Gallery at Westbury Plaza.

The kids and I were given the chance to tour the new store, and it’s just a great, big bottle of AWESOME SAUCE. Be prepared, there’s a lot of Orange colored items in there. My kids, being orange fanatics, loved it. SO DID I.

This weekend the store is having it’s GRAND OPENING, and when you shop this weekend, 10% of the sales will go to the Women’s Fund of Long Island. I believe the donating is my favorite part of the whole opening weekend.

Sure, they’ll be doing millions of giveaways (one every hour from opening to closing both days, and you do NOT have to be there to win – just go at 9am each morning to sign up.) Plus, if you check-in on Facebook, and show them, you’ll be able to score a $10 store gift card.

But my all-time favorite part, truly? The fact that this new store is coming in, not only providing a ton of new jobs in their store (the company is always in FORTUNE Magazine’s 100 Best Companies to work for in America), but they also found an amazing non-profit organization to donate money to. Talk about a great introduction to such a fun store!Women's Fund of Long Island

Another great little tidbit? When you spend $100 at The Container Store between August 11th and 26th, you’ll receive a $15 Shop Card redeemable from September 1st through the 23rd. You can use the card not just in stores, but also online, or by phone.

If you’re worried about pricing, don’t be. You know I wouldn’t be sharing this info with you unless it was a great value for your money. The prices are completely en pointe with places like Walmart, Target, and the like. The quality is top notch, and some products may “look” more expensive, but when you pick them up, touch them, and realize how they are made – you’ll come to realize the couple of extra bucks will be worth it. WHY? You won’t be coming back in 6 months to buy the exact same thing, because the first one broke. The stuff is built to last.

I’m also all about not just saving money, but time. The store doesn’t just have unreal products, which will help you get your “sh*t together,” but it also has an amazing staff that is TRAINED. I know, amazing, right? A trained group of sales people, not working on commission…..WHAT? Unheard of. However, it’s completely true. Shopping at this store, all you need to do is find a sales person, tell them exactly what your issues are in your “mess of a house,” and they are actually so well-trained (we’re talking hundreds of hours of training), they will find exactly what you need.

Bonus: they have a gift registry. You don’t have to be getting married to register. You can be a fresh, new graduate of high school, and register for some goodies for your new dorm life. Perhaps you just bought a house, and you want to have a house warming party. Register your heart away. Totally easy, and you’ll have a lot of fun doing it!

The store saves you time, the products within the store save you time once in your home being put to good use, and the quality is completely worth every penny! My only issue? We need one closer to Suffolk County. My husband doesn’t see it that way!

PS-If you haven’t heard of elfa, I recommend asking about it for your home organization. Closets, garages, offices…..they all need elfa. TRUST ME on this one.

The highlights of our trip to the store (or should I say, my kids’ favorites from the store):

The Container Store The entire family can find things for EVERY room in your home, at reasonable prices, and only high quality products. The staff is full of knowledge, which is very different than your usual “hide out and hope they don’t ask me” kind of sales people you find in almost every other store on Long Island. Soak up the fabulous this weekend, and make sure to check in on Facebook so you can show them at the store and score a gift card!

Thank you so much for mentioning our organization, Women’s Fund of Long Island, in your blog! We very much appreciate it. A few fun facts: We set a The Container Store record for most pre-sales (that click and pick up was awesome)! The Long Island Grand Opening weekend was the third largest in The Container Store’s history! (behind NYC and Boston) The best news is that they are sending our organization a check for $25,000 based on Grand Opening weekend sales! That will go a long way in investing in the power of women and the dreams of girls. The partnership with The Container Store has been a truly wonderful experience.
