Prior to being a mother, depression hit me throughout my life. I can safely say, it's far more heart breaking to live with depression after your children arrive. Before kids, I didn't even know it was depression. I just thought I was sad for extended periods of time, and I was a loner who felt [...]
Rochester is filled with history, but it's also filled with fun stuff to do with your gal pals! A ladies weekend in Rochester New York has to include a spa visit, and of course, stops at the famous Wegmans that started it all! Plus, the Rochester Public Market, when the weather is nice. Truthfully, I'd [...]
Depression is unique to each person living, and dealing, with it. Each of us out here, going through our journey with depression, aren't the same. We may share similar thoughts, but like snowflakes, we're all different. Depression is unique to each person living and dealing with it Realizing I suffer from depression has been a long [...]
This post has been sponsored by Pfizer Consumer Healthcare. When I get a cold, it always ends up causing me unbelievable pain in my sinuses. Pressure builds up, everything backs up, and the next thing I know I’ve got a burning feeling every time I breathe through my nose. The pain goes all the way [...]
You've all gotten to know me over the years. I rarely hold back anything I'm thinking, and some have told me I have no filter. Personally, I prefer to live my life knowing I'm speaking from my heart; writing my truth. I come from a place of good intentions, and sure, at times, it might [...]
National Shortbread Day arrives on January 6th. Were you aware there was an actual National Shortbread Day? I know I wasn't, and I'm a big fan of shortbread. I have grown up on Walkers Shortbread. Now, with my kids, I've got tins filled with crayons, markers, and colored pencils, because you never throw out a Walkers [...]
All around Rochester exploring the world of play, art and George Eastman, is one of my favorite experiences since starting my travel writing. Don't get me wrong, San Diego, and New York City, are my favorite cities for obvious reasons. However, Rochester has become a place I never expected to fall so deeply in love with. [...]
Eating my way through beautiful Rochester in Western New York didn't cover nearly enough food, so I plan on heading back in 2017! I got a tease of a taste, a little amuse bouche, if you will. Next trip up, I'm hitting the BBQ places, but this time definitely wet my whistle for a lot [...]
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the entire Sunflower Family. Now, that doesn't mean just me, the kids, etc. It also means the guest writers I've had throughout the year, along with those who work behind the scenes on my website! Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year from the entire Sunflower Family I'm [...]
Wii U Skylanders Imaginators gets two thumbs up from The Boy. The issue I have with it? I don't understand anything about it, and The Boy's addiction to this Skylanders franchise is freakishly strong. As much as I try, and try, and tryyyyy, I just don't get the fascination. I pressed The Boy for what [...]
Minecraft Xbox One S console is available at Best Buy. I've heard many parents saying their kids put it on the old Christmas list, because, you know, Minecraft <insert exasperated sarcastic tone here>. Seriously, it's all my son thinks about. However, it could be worse. As far as I can tell, Minecraft is a decent game. [...]
Last minute gift requests are possible with Groupon Coupons. Normally, my kids NEVER ask for anything. Doesn't matter the occasion, they never ask. Whatever I choose to purchase, and give to them, works for them every year. This year? Well, this year, my Little Miss has chosen to make last minute gift requests. I was [...]

The Strathallan Rochester is located in the heart of Rochester's cultural and historic districts, and since it's a DoubleTree by Hilton property, you get a warm cookie when you check-in. Sweet! Especially after realizing everything at the hotel closes up rather early on a Thursday night, and I've just landed at Greater Rochester International Airport. JetBlue [...]
Walking in the footsteps of the legendary Susan B. Anthony is one of the most powerful experiences any woman can have. The only thing that could have made my footsteps more powerful? Having my daughter with me, following the same path through history. One day, I'll bring her to take it all in. It's a [...]
Brilliant with a side of personality doesn't even cover Ward Stare. His talent is extraordinary, and the fact that he's from my home state of New York, brings a sense of pride. I'd have never known of him, or his talents, if not for my daughter's desire to play Viola for her school's orchestra. Go [...]
Tattoos have come a long way. From being marks of renegades, as well as outlaws, to being a cultural norm. However, people change. Trends, change, too. Sometimes a tattoo once cherished, and loved, becomes a nuisance. You've changed, some people have left your life and others came, and different things begin to matter more. Whatever [...]

The European Capital of Food Festivals Budapest Emerges as Popular Tourist Hub Budapest has faced many struggles over the past century. For [...]
Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego. Yup, just like most cities, San Diego has a variety of neighborhoods, and sections. The Gaslamp Quarter happens to be one of my favorite places to hang out in, when I visit my beloved San Diego. It's got all the best restaurants, and we all know my love of all [...]
Thanksgiving this year is one for the books. It's been a rough year, with a whole lot of downs. However, I'm so thankful for so much this year. I've learned to embrace the super simple things in life, to get me through each day. I take my days one at a time, and not plan [...]
When did Thanksgiving become insignificant? Recently, I made a trip to a brick and mortar store. It happens sometimes. I can't do all my shopping online, because lately, I've been super lazy about gift buying. I wait until last minute. While in the store, all the Christmas things were out and Christmas was playing while [...]
Gluten free desserts for Thanksgiving gatherings isn't something I ever thought I'd write about. Gluten has never been an issue for me, until recently. I don't have Celiac, however, my body seems to have a sensitivity to it. GLORIOUS. An Italian with some gluten sensitivities just isn't right! During holidays, and major events, in order [...]
Fresh ingredients to cook at home? Cooking? ME in the kitchen? We all know it's one of my least favorite things to do in life. As I do more of it though, and the kids help in the kitchen, it's not as bad these days. Don't roll your eyes, thinking I'm blowing sunshine up your butts. [...]

Lice. Sadly, I had it when I was younger. I remember who started it, and how all five of us who sat around him, ended up with it. Those little pests love clean hair, and my mother was supremely anal about me having clean hair. Short, clean hair. It was my undoing, and it also [...]
